Rachel Resnick -- Author, Writing Retreat Leader, Writing Coach                      


Rachel Resnick is the founder and CEO of Writers on Fire. She’s the best-selling author of Love Junkie (Bloomsbury) and Go West Young F*cked-Up Chick (St. Martin's Press). Her award-winning essays, articles and fiction have been published in the Los Angeles Times, Marie Claire, Women's Health, Black Book magazine, in various anthologies (including Damage Control:  Women on the Therapists, Beauticians and Trainers Who Navigate Their Bodies; The Time Of My Life:  Prom Stories; The Dictionary of Failed Relationships; Best American Erotica 2004; Women On The Edge; L.A. Stories; Absolute Disaster); and numerous literary magazines including Black Clock, Swink, Le Storie, Barcelona Review. Rachel is also a contributing editor at Tin House magazine.


A graduate of Yale University, B.A. in English Literature, and of Vermont College, M.F.A. in Creative Writing, Rachel Resnick has taught creative writing at UCLA Extension Writers' Program, USC Professional Writing Program, and has guest-taught and lectured at Stanford,  Cal Arts, LACC, Chapman, Whittier, Emerson, Antioch, UC Riverside/Palm Desert.


Courses Rachel created include: A Touch of Evil: Writing Unflinching Fiction; The Necessary Lie: Turning Life into Fiction; and Detective Fiction: The Simple Art of Murder (a Literature Survey), for which she drew on her one-year stint as a private eye.


An avid traveler, Rachel has also published many award-winning essays and stories, inspired by her adventures around the world. A collection of her travel stories will soon be available in e-book format, so stay tuned!
